Mid-Season Review

Updated: Dec 16, 2018

As we move into the Christmas Holidays, the first half of the inaugural Summer Junior Competitions come to a close.

With all competitions bursting at the seams with talent, we've highlighted some of the top performing players and teams so far this season.

U12:

  • Filled with new talent, NW Warriors Black are undefeated through the first six rounds, with only a draw against their name. Jake Henry-May leads the team on offense, averaging the third most in the competition with 7.4 points a game.

  • Only one win separates first and fourth place, with GSLC claiming two of the four top spots.

  • Southern Sabres Black player Tyler Woodward leads the league in scoring, averaging 9 points a game, leading GSLC gun Alaska Rosenkranz by a fraction, averaging 8 points a game.

U14:

  • Sitting pretty atop the ladder, Southern Sabres Black had been blazing through the first half of the season, traveling with an unblemished record, and a whopping 325.27 percentage points, until they faced a tough Central Saints Black outfit in the final round for the year, going down by a point in the dying minutes, led by 6 unanswered points from Ayman Alsago.

  • Round 6 leaves the competition's Top 4 in a tight battle, with all four teams with a loss against their record.

  • Samuel Ruscoe currently leads his team Southern Sabres Black (and the competition) with the slasher averaging an impressive 20 points a game.

  • Outside of the leader, GSLC hosts two out of the top four scorers in the competition, with Ethan Ember and Charlie Glennon averaging 17.6 points and 14.6 points respectively.

U16:

  • The Under 16's Boys competition is booming this season, with a healthy twelve teams filled with talent from around the northern Sunshine Coast.

  • Many games this season have come down to the wire, with only single digits separating wins and losses.

  • Albeit after some close-call games, Southern Sabres Gold have hit some early form this season, winning all games put in front of them through the first six games. New talent Aiden Stafford-Johns is leading the team averaging 13 points a game.

  • Eastern Eagles Blue also find themselves undefeated this season, with only a draw next to their name stopping them from being the ladder leaders.

  • Southern Sabres Black big man Liam Switzer currently leads the competition averaging 18.8 points a game.

  • Sharpshooter Jack Murray leads the league with Threes Made, draining 10 shots from beyond the arc.

U18:

  • Heading into the Holiday break, Central Saints Black & White remain undefeated through the first six rounds.

  • Connor Prout currently leads all scorers with an average of 23.33 a game, edging ahead of fellow U18 Phoenix team-mate Matt Drew, who averages 20.4 respectively.

  • Young gun Billy Bowes leads the competition in 3's made so far this season, hitting an impressive 17 long bombs through the first six rounds.
