Sounding like something out of a science fiction novel, it was a two-club battle between the Phoenix Clippers, and the Northside Wizards this past Saturday in the Mens and Womens Grand Final games.
Only four points separated the two clubs across both games, with both Grand Finals coming down to nail-biting finishes.
After a game which saw multiple lead changes throughout the last quarter of play, the Phoenix Clippers Women edged out a strong Wizards outfit in the dying minutes to win 51-48. Noosa Basketball alumni Amy Benjamin and Chelsea Reifell both had great impacts on the game, finishing with a combined 18 points. Northside Wizard Georgia McCarron led all scorers with 14 points.
Not to be outdone, the SBL mens game also provided a thriller, with the match never pushing past a 5 point lead from buzzer to buzzer.
Noosa Basketball alumni Jonathan Janssen's game high 30 points wasn't enough to pull the Phoenix men over the line, as they eventually fell to the ladder leaders in overtime.
After joining mid-season, Janssen finished his SBL season tied with the most average points (28) with Gold Coast Roller James Whitby.
